Eggs aren’t just a great morning breakfast or those things the Easter Bunny hides. Eggs are a superfood in every sense of the word. That’s why I’ve collected some interesting facts about the mighty egg. Keep reading to find out why I think eggs are EGGceptional.

Eggs don’t need to be kept in the fridge if you use them fast enough. In fact, eggs will stay fresh at room temperature for up to two days, so don’t stress if you accidentally leave your eggs on the counter overnight. 

Need to know if an egg is hard-boiled without cracking it? Give it a spin! A hard-boiled egg will spin, while a raw egg will roll. 

Araucana chickens can naturally lay brown, blue, green and even pink-colored eggs. That’s why they’re also commonly known as the Easter Egg Chicken. What a colorful way to start your day!  

A hen named Harriet from the UK is on record for laying the world’s largest egg. It was a whopping 9.1 inches in diameter. 

Wanna know if those eggs you got from the farmers’ market are fresh? Cloudy egg whites and dark yellow yolks are both a sign of fresh-from-the-coop eggs. 

A couple of days past the expiration date on your egg carton? A great way to test if your eggs are still safe is to place them in a bowl of water. If they sink to the bottom, they’re still safe to eat. If they float, throw them out.

The average American eats about 250 eggs per year. That’s a lot of protein! And speaking of protein every cooked egg contains about 6 grams of protein. No wonder eating eggs is a great way to start your day.
